We are working hard in the garden doing spring cleaning!

Art Kruckeberg's 95th Birthday

Thank you to everyone who attended Art Kruckeberg's 95th birthday party or who sent in donations to KBGF on his behalf. We had a great afternoon celebrating the Garden's namesake. Check out the video from the event, including birthday wishes from the Kruckeberg Botanic Garden community.

Our Plant Database is Live!

Last winter, we received a grant from the Stanley Smith Horticultural Trust to jump-start our database development project. This year, I have worked with a database/website developer and a plant collection database specialist to build a plant collection database specific to our needs here at KBG. We slowly worked through cleaning up our plant collection data, compiling our talking trees audio files and our image collection, and completing a recent inventory of MsK Nursery. The data has been compiled and uploaded to our website. We are now working on creating a user-friendly interface that is accessible-and searchable-via our website. The database is now live! Check it out here.

We are now working on updating our mapping! The next step? In 2015, we will begin updating our maps of the plant collection. Stay tuned for updates!

Solstice Stroll 2014

Solstice Stroll

Visit December 19-21 from 4:30pm-8:30pm (last entry at 8pm) to see the garden aglow with light and unique art creations. Join us for refreshments and a magical walk through the woods. This event is free and open to all!

Pre-registration is now closed - but we hope to be able to accommodate walk-ins without much waiting (and we will supply you with cookies, coffee, and hot cocoa while you wait).Come on down to the Solstice Stroll!

All parking for the Solstice Stroll will be offsite, at the Richmond Beach Congregational Church / United Church of Christ at 1512 NW 195th St, Shoreline WA 98177. Enter the parking lot from Richmond Beach Rd (just west of 15th Ave NW). Our convenient shuttle will pick you up at the edge of the parking lot to bring you to the Garden.

See our Solstice Stroll Page for more details.

A note about accessibility: you are welcome to drop off / pick up in the bus loading zone if riding the shuttle will be a hardship for anyone in your group. Part of the stroll is through a level area and is accessible, but much of the path is a mulched or grass trail along the hillside. There are stairs on the main route (going up only), but there is also an alternate exit that does not require ascending stairs. If you are concerned about navigating uneven ground we suggest that you bring a flashlight. Thank you - we appreciate your understanding.

With the exception of Solstice Stroll evening hours, the garden and nursery will be closed from DEC. 19th - JAN. 8th. Our first open day of the new year will be Friday, JAN 9th, 2015.
