Workshops – What fun!

5996449645_122ea985bcIt has been a pleasure to watch our spring and summer workshops unfold this season. Our workshops on hypertufa and sand-casting a leaf birdbath were the most popular. Both of these crafts tap into our inner child’s desire to play in the mud!

We have another fun workshop coming up this September: “Bog-In-A-Bucket.” At this workshop, we’ll help you create a miniature wetland garden in a container to take home. Take a look at our events page for more information.

In the meantime, check out these great photos of the sand-casting workshop, where participants used leaves to create a cement birdbath with a lovely leaf imprint. These photos are by volunteer photographer Jane Hur.

These photos are from our hypertufa container workshop, where participants created light-weight planters from a mixture of cement, peat moss, and perlite. Thanks to volunteer Aden Heuser for taking these photos!

Two examples of finished containers planted with different Lewisia species. The one on the left was planted by Mareen Kruckeberg years ago and has aged nicely. The one on the right was planted recently and is much younger!
